About Counter-Strike for Newbies

Counter-Strike is a team-based first-person shooter in which players join either the terrorist or counter-terrorist team, and combat the opposing team while fulfilling predetermined objectives. Server settings may automatically balance teams when one team has more players than the other. Each round starts with the two teams spawning simultaneously, as one of eight different default character models (four to choose from for both the counter-terrorist and terrorist teams. Counter-Strike:Condition Zero added two extra models, bringing the total to ten). Each player generally starts with $800, two magazines of ammunition, a knife, and a pistol: a Heckler & Koch USP .45 Tactical for counter-terrorists, and a GLOCK 18c for Terrorists. Players are generally given a few seconds before the round begins (known as "freeze time") to buy equipment, during which time they cannot attack or move in any direction. Players may buy equipment whenever they are in a "buy zone" for their team (some zones can be for both teams, depending on the map) provided the round has not been in session for longer than a specified time (90 seconds is default).

Standard monetary bonuses in the game are:

  • Win a round: $3250 (awarded at the beginning of the following round)
  • Lose a round: $1400 + $500 per round lost over 1 (to maximum $3400) (awarded at the beginning of the following round)
  • Kill an enemy: $300 (awarded instantly)
  • Instruct a hostage to follow: $150 (awarded instantly. Only works once per hostage, per round)
  • Rescue a hostage: $1000 (awarded instantly)
  • Plant the bomb: $800 (awarded at the beginning of the following round)

The scoreboard shows team scores in addition to data for each player: name, score, deaths, and ping (in milliseconds) on the map. The scoreboard also shows whether each player is dead, carrying the bomb (in bomb defusal maps), or the VIP (in assassination maps), although to obtain this information about players on the opposing team a player must be dead during the round.

Killed players become "ghosts" for the duration of the round; they cannot change their names, text chat cannot be sent to or received from live players; and, while voice chat can still be received from live players, it cannot be sent to them (with the exception of a situation in which cvar sv_alltalk is set to 1, in which case voice chat can be freely exchanged between dead and living players). Ghosts are generally able to watch the rest of the round from multiple selectable views, although some servers disable some of these views to prevent dead players from relaying information about living players to their teammates through alternative media (most notably voice in the case of Internet cafes and players in the same rooms of their own homes, playing on the same server). This technique, known as "ghosting," is considered cheating in many tactical shooters.

Counter-Strike is meant to be more realistic than futuristic first-person shooters such as Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament, but is also built to keep the action flowing faster than more realistic tactical shooters such as the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon series. For example, relatively few shots will kill a player, and shots to different parts of the body inflict varying amounts of damage, but damage has no permanent bearing on ability to run or jump, allowing a player with just a few hit points remaining to keep fighting just as well as any other player. Movement, however, is restricted while taking damage from gunfire, and a player cannot run at full speed whilst taking damage.

There are several game types in Counter-Strike which define the objectives of each team in the game, and rules which determine which team wins. Each map is of a single game type.

Why India Still Sucks Counter-Strike Internationally

First of all the Indian Government should encourage this huge Industry. Then there should also be gaming centres in reach of the people. There should be regular tournaments at gaming centres with low entrance fee and high Prize money. Also there should be separate gaming centres for separate games. For example i started multiplayer gaming in April 2005.That time most of the people there played CS or GTA San Andreas. But if I go there today then all 10/14 PCs play Warcraft and the remaining play CS 1-1 or GTA.So automatically if people keep switching from 1 game to another then there is no scope for people to actually be competent and represent India at the International Level and win.And there should be annual gaming competitions in schools and gaming fests in colleges. If this is followed the the 2015 World Champions will be from India.
P.S.Parents should be encouraging. And also there should be sponsors like AMD x64 or as such

Info. Regarding Rifles!!!!

Hi,

This for everyone who might have any favourite rifle questions.

Once you play enough, you come to learn that there are only 2 assault rifles in CS.
The M4a1 and the CV-47, there is NO favourite rifle. If you dont have enough money to buy the above mentioned weapon you either go ECO i.e your whole team doesnt buy to save up for the next round...Or you buy the clarion/galil.

The last line about buying the clarion/galil is not entirely true because sometimes some players will prefer them to the M4/CV, but those occurences are infrequent.

Next up is the AWP(magnum, sniper etc), which is usually bought by the sniper(s) in the team. Everyone wont run around with an AWP in hand even if everyone had $16,000. Unless you have some whacked up strategy.

Ok boys to round it up now,
When playing serious CS, the only assault weapon of choice is the M4/CV.Clarion/galil is also used, especially when you have enough cash for clarion + head armour but not enough for m4 + head armour.

As you keep playing CS, you'll come to know that head armour is more important than a powerful gun. That's one more lesson, You never buy M4/CV without armour, that's stupid.
The remaining rifles are seldom used if at all.

I hope things are clearer now, for the newer players in this community.
All seasoned CS players, i know you already knew this.

Thanks,

Hope This is Usefull.....

Walle's Tutorial

Heard of Walle's sniping tutorial vids?? Hey will give u a good idea of how to fastzoom, or nozoom, and what he calls a "Spawn jump"

Its good to improve your shots, but if you wanna know how to snipe and not get shot, you need to learn stealth. YOu need to know where the enemy will peek out from, and how you can see him before he sees you. A sniper shouldnt be all alone, someone should be around to give himbackup if needed urgently, a sniper is weak in close combat, unless he is a pistol god.

Do you know 2nd shot nozoom is very accurate?? What i mean is, if you miss the first shot by a small distance, and you know how far your aim was from the actual enemy, you can move your aim at him while the gun retaliates while keeping the attack1 buton pressed, and when the gun fires 2nd time, it dosnt zoom, but tehe accuracy is as good as when you are zooming.

Learn to hide behind walls from where you can peek easily and also escape incase of a sudden ruhs towards you. Its a must for a sniper to be good as pistols as well, as that is his last resort if someone sudenly comes up close and there is no time to run.

More to come.......
Coll right now!
Adios! Hope this helped a bit, if anyone has aything, plz add!

Well 2 be a good sniperist,u need 2 hv a good idea abt enemies' straffing.U hv 2 be in complete stealth at the time of takoing ur shot.Ny good opponent can easily kill u if u miss ur 1st shot.So be very much cautious.N in close range, sometimes u need 2 take ur shot without zooming.Well it totally depends on practicing more n more.It depends on the assumption tht ur gun ponits towards the enemy.Dont practice too much with scout. It ll affect ur Magnum Sniper skill.
